There are no places more dangerous to sit at Major League Baseball games than along the first and third base lines, a fact a handful of San Diego Padres fans likely would’ve learned the hard way if not for a quick reacting ballgirl.

With San Diego leading by two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and runners on first and second, first baseman Yonder Alonso sent a screaming line drive down the first base line that looked destined to make contact with a group of fans sitting in the front rows.

That’s when the ballgirl sprung into action and stretched into the stands to prevent the fans from being struck, much to the appeasement of those Friar faithful who couldn’t help but applaud her effort.

Thankfully nobody was hurt and the ballgirl was able to give the foul ball to a young fan before getting some daps from the security guard sitting next to her.

Had she not made that catch, things looked like they could have turned out a lot worse.
