As the NBA Draft approaches this June, we’re going to start hearing names like Julius Randle, Andrew Wigging, Joel Embiid and Jabari Parker even more than we already are. But while this year’s class has a definitive top tier of players, there are still those hanging out below that tier who carry the title of ‘sleeper’ and one of the best sleepers in the draft seems to be Clemson forward K.J. McDaniels.

Chad Ford broke down his latest big board of NBA prospects and while McDaniels was hanging out in the early 20s, Ford did mention that NBA GMs are very high on McDaniel’s ability to be a big time sleeper this season.

The praise is very much warranted, as McDaniels is a super athletic forward who seems to have to tools that can be molded into something special. Most mocks have him going in the later half of the first-round and if someone like the Miami Heat or Oklahoma City Thunder get their hands on him and can throw out LeBron James or Kevin Durant to mentor him, McDaniels may be in for one heck of an NBA career.

Even if he doesn’t end up in a situation like that, many believe the sky is the limit for McDaniels and his sleeper status will be something to watch as June approaches.
