The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly shopping running back LaMichael James and that has some analysts around the league wondering which teams would make good fits for the young back. While he’s not a featured back, James is looking for more playing time and the right situation may lead to him blossoming.

For Eagles beat writer Eliot Shorr-Parks, an obvious connection was to link James with his former Oregon coach Chip Kelly in Philadelphia. But while Shorr-Parks lays out the obvious connections between James and the Eagles, the chances of a trade happening are rather low.

The Eagles already unloaded a draft pick to acquire Darren Sproles and even if he’s used almost exclusively on passing plays, the Eagles have two running backs in Bryce Brown and Chris Polk who can battle for carries that James would be in the position to get.

It’s not impossible that the Eagles would trade for James and run with a three back system LeSean McCoy, Darren Sproles and LaMichael James, but the dilemma of getting James more playing time would follow him in this unlikely scenario.
