The St. Louis Rams drafted Utah State star safety Maurice Alexander in the fourth round with the 110th selection in the draft. It is an interesting story, but not a pretty one. Alexander was sentenced to a year in jail after punching a teammate at a party. According to Deseret News, his teammate Joseph DeMartino needed surgery for broken broken bones his eye socket and a fractured cheekbone, and Alexander was suspended from the team for a season and after pleading guilty to a lesser charge he got all but 45 days of his sentence suspended.

But what he did in that time off is what makes this story interesting.

From For The Win:

"Alexander — from Eureka, Missouri — was kicked off the team for a season and returned home, where he worked as a janitor at the Edward Jones Dome, home of the Rams."

So it isn’t quite the heartwarming story of Kurt Warner coming in and leading the St. Louis Rams to the Super Bowl after working as a grocery clerk, but it is still pretty interesting. But still, Alexander is going from being the stadium’s janitor to playing on the field on Sundays.
