Some people love it, some people hate it, but the Mets will be wearing yet another different jersey.

It’s not necessarily big news that teams have alternate uniforms, especially alternate uniforms that are worn on days like Memorial day. The Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees are the only teams that keep it traditional, so to speak. With the exception of specially themed days (i.e. Saturday’s Negro League throwback jersey for the Tigers), Detroit and New York keep the jerseys snow white at home and gray on the road. Ian Kinsler even mentioned this after he was traded to Detroit, stating how classic it was and how much he was looking forward to only having two uniform choices.

The Mets, one could argue, completely do away with any “classic” notion of uniform colors. The Mets, earlier this season, went seven straight days without wearing a repeated jersey. They have two different blue uniform tops. They already have one camouflage-themed jersey, as they will be honoring the military at different home games throughout the year. It was announced before Memorial Day that the Mets would not be wearing the fatigues they already own, but they will instead don a different camouflage-themed jersey.

And in case you’re wondering, yes, the joke has already been made about the Mets not wanting to be seen.
