Fantasy baseball players will be very happy to learn that the White Sox plan to activate slugger Jose Abreu from the DL ahead of Monday’s series opening game against the Dodgers. Abreu had been on the DL since May 18 with ankle tendonitis.

More from Chicago White Sox

Despite missing two weeks, Abreu still leads the White Sox with 15 home runs and 42 RBI. The rookie’s return to the lineup sets up an epic confrontation between him and fellow Cuban Yasiel Puig.

Abreu nearly suffered an unforeseen setback in his recovery on Saturday when, during a simulated game, the White Sox minor league pitcher shipped in to throw to him accidentally hit him above the elbow.

I can’t even begin to imagine what would have befallen that poor pitcher had he injured Jose Abreu. He might have had to defect to Cuba just to save his own life.

Luckily Abreu was not injured by the idiotic simulated game mishap and he is on course for a return. Abreu vs. Puig is going to be appointment viewing for fans Monday-Wednesday, assuming Abreu is immediately put back into the starting lineup by Chicago.

Yes, the White Sox are playing games in June that fans are going to be excited to see. That’s what Abreu brings to the table. The White Sox kind of matter, and it’s weird.
