If somebody told you that you could potentially draft a player comparable to Grant Hill or Carmelo Anthony with the second or third overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, you’d likely take that all day, every day.

But what if the said player was a mix of both current and former NBA stars? That’s exactly what an NBA scout has compared Duke’s Jabari Parker to, suggesting that the forward is a combination of both players.

“In terms of a basketball player and a human being, I think it’s all first class,” said an Eastern Conference scout. “I think he gets on the court next year and averages between 14-17 points per game, 2-4 assists, 6-8 rebounds. I see this Carmelo Anthony/Grant Hill hybrid.”

The unnamed scout later stated that Parker is one of the safest picks in the draft.

“I don’t think you go wrong with him. I think there’s very little risk, for sure.”

Parker was thought by many to eventually be the No. 1 pick in the upcoming June draft, however the emergence of big man Joel Embiid put a wrinkle into that idea and many seem to feel that Parker will slip out of the top spot and fall to either the Milwaukee Bucks, who own the second overall pick or the Philadelphia 76ers, current owners of the third selection.

However, some seem to feel that both the Cavaliers and Bucks are throwing out smoke screens (understandable and likely) regarding their picks, so, it’s difficult to tell if Parker really has slipped out of the top overall spot or if he’s still a candidate for such. Regardless, it appears he’s certainly won over a handful of NBA scouts.
