The Chicago Bulls were supposed to be a much better team than they’ve been the last three seasons but they’ve only come close to achieving their potential once, back in the 2011 season. Since then, Derrick Rose has missed basically two entire seasons with noodle knees that can’t stop tearing apart and the team has made so-so investments in role players who have only marginally gotten the job done.

As a result, it seems the team is getting serious about adding a third superstar to the roster as the tandem of Joakim Noah and Rose — whenever he plays — only gets the team to the Eastern Conference Finals. Carmelo Anthony’s name has continually come up in conversations with the Bulls and it’s looking like they may have the best chance at landing him.

According to Ken Berger from CBSSports.com, the Chicago Bulls could not only use their two first-round picks this year to acquire Carmelo in a sign and trade, but they could use a few of their attractive future picks as well.

"If the Bulls feel good about their chances of landing Anthony, they could move both of their picks to create room — or dangle one in sign-and-trade talks with New York, which badly needs future assets. In addition to the 16th and 19th pick in this draft, the Bulls have Sacramento’s 1-10 protected pick next year and the right to swap with Cleveland."

The New York Knicks may want to ask a King’s ransom for Carmelo in a sign and trade, but they are stuck in the corner of not having any draft picks this year. That’s something that could play a key role in all of this as the Bulls have been looking to flip their picks and the Knicks want to move into the first round to take P.J. Hairston or Tyler Ennis. They could get one or both if they get the Bulls two picks, as a sign and trade where the Bulls send picks and players is starting to look more and more plausible.
