Depending on who you believe, the Boston Celtics may or may not be in the market to trade starting point guard Rajon Rondo. Even as recently as the day of the 2014 NBA Draft there were rumors suggesting Rondo could be traded to the Sacramento Kings, but nothing ever manifested and Rajon Rondo remained in Beantown.

So what’s the next step for the Boston Celtics organization? Well, in addition to filling out their roster, according to the Boston Herald it’s entertaining trade offers for Rondo though such a sentiment shouldn’t be mistaken that the Celtics are actively attempting to trade their point guard.
As is the case with any rebuilding team, your best players are often the talk of trades and they should be given their your ticket to an expedited re-build. Of course, with a pedigree like the Celtics franchise, it’s very possible that an additional All-Star talent could be brought in alongside Rondo, putting the Celtics back in the thick of the Eastern Conference.
Still, with a player of Rondo’s caliber, if a team calls in effort to make a trade you have to listen. Again, that doesn’t mean the Celtics are seeking to trade Rondo, just that general manager Danny Ainge is doing his job.
So if you were expecting that the Rajon Rondo trade rumors would cease this offseason, that doesn’t appear likely. But as we’ve seen in the past, no matter how many times Rondo has his name attached to a rumor, nothing comes from it.
Will that be the case in the next few months?
