Josh Rosen (Bellflower, Calif. St. John Bosco) arrived at The Elite 11 with the chance to prove he’s the top quarterback in the nation and make a statement he should be the No. 1 overall recruit in the nation.

More from College Football

The early impressions on the 6-4, 205-pound quarterback and UCLA commit are that Rosen is every bit the consensus five-star recruit and could be one of the best quarterback prospects to enter the college game in some time.

His arm strength has been on full display in the first two days of the camp with only Penn State commit Brandon Wimbush possessing a stronger fastball than Rosen who also has shown nice touch and accuracy with his throws during the 7-on-7 portion of the workouts that began on Monday.

The praise has been flowing in from Beaverton, Oregon where the Elite 11/The Opening is being held for the player 247Sports’ Ryan Bartow called the best quarterback recruit for UCLA since Troy Aikman.

The pass wasn’t completed as the receiver was unable to come down with the pass from the No. 6 recruit in the 247Sports Composite Rankings who is battling USC commit Ricky Town for the honor of the top quarterback at the Elite 11 as well as the top pocket-passer ranking.

But the throw was a thing of beauty and a sign of great things to come for Rosen and the Bruins.

Pac-12 fans are in for a treat as the state of California is absolutely loaded at the quarterback position this year and UCLA may have the best in a strong class and could be the rare player to step right in as a true freshman and succeed Brett Hundley as the Bruins starting quarterback in 2015.

Rosen passed for 3,200 yards and 39 touchdowns last year for one of the top prep teams in the nation.
