The New York Knicks are under new management with Phil Jackson and he’s already trying to give the team the facelift it needs.

But while the Knicks maybe would have liked to get a quick and expensive facelift, the team is having to go through a slower process that is going to take trades and salary slashing to make happen.
According to Ian Begley of ESPNNewYork.com, the Knicks are now open to not only trading Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith but they may be trying to package them together in a deal.
"Working to clear the logjam in the backcourt, the Knicks are discussing their potential trade options with guards J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert and Shane Larkin, a league source said Sunday.“They’re working on trying to make a move in the backcourt,” the NBA source familiar with the Knicks’ thinking said Sunday."
The big thing for the Knicks this offseason was to get Carmelo Anthony back, and they ended up doing that. From there, no one on the roster is important and that has been seen in the trading of Tyson Chandler as well as the shopping of Amare Stoudemire, Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith.
Nothing is imminent, but that’s not the point here as the Knicks are trying to change everything they’ve been about for the past decade as the losing seems to be coming to an end and the winning ways of the past seem to be coming back thanks to the carving knife Phil Jackson is taking to the roster.
