The Los Angeles Dodgers know that Matt Kemp’s best days are behind him. Of course, that becomes a problem when he’s still owned over $107 million dollars through the 2019 season.

More from Los Angeles Dodgers

It’s been no secret that the Los Angeles Dodgers are open to trading their former franchise player but they haven’t exactly been met with open arms from rival teams. It’s not just a money situation either as teams are fearful of his alleged prima donna temperament and inability to fight through nagging injuries.

Given all those factors, it’s understandable as to why teams are reluctant to acquire Matt Kemp and it’s even more understandable as to why the Dodgers want to move him. In fact, one general manager told Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports that they’d ‘kill’ to trade him.

"But one rival executive says the Dodgers would “kill” to move Kemp. Another suggests that they simply need to bring their trade desires more in line with how the industry views him."

While the Dodgers have been linked to trading Matt Kemp there hasn’t been much reported in regards to what exactly they want in a deal. Obviously they’d like to avoid paying him so they’d prefer to stick an acquiring club with as big a price tag as possible, though that’s much easier said than done.

For now it looks as if the Los Angeles Dodgers will continue to explore the market (they’ll likely do so after the deadline as well given Kemp’s would not be claimed off waivers) and cross their fingers in hopes that somebody will take the former All-Star off their hands.
