Tiger Woods withdraws from WGC-Bridgestone with back injury
By Dan Zinski
Tiger Woods was seen earlier Sunday afternoon at the Bridgestone Invitational engaging in paper-airplane-tossing tomfoolery with Bubba Watson. But Tiger’s mood is anything but jocular now that he has been forced to withdraw from the tournament with a back injury.

A dejected Tiger was photographed climbing into a vehicle to leave the tournament.
Tiger said (via Golf Channel’s Jason Sobel) that he suffered the injury on the second hole and tried to play through it:
"“Happened on the second hole when I hit my second shot” said Woods. “I fell back into the bunker. Just jarred it. It’s been spasming ever since. It’s just the whole lower back. I don’t know what happened.”"
Woods hit his drive on the ninth and promptly walked off the course. Woods has been trying to fight back from a multitude of physical problems including knee surgery but it hasn’t been going well. He barely made the cut at the British Open and was never seriously in contention on the weekend. He has basically been hacking his way around courses since returning to the tour earlier this year, trying to get his swing right.
The back injury represents one more setback for the world’s former greatest player. His body just keeps breaking down. He is a disaster right now.
