The World Cup of Basketball is starting up soon and that means Team USA is going to have to cut down its roster to just 12 players before Saturday.

Right now it appears there’s only a handful of players who can be considered locks for the roster and the list of big name players who could be cut is one the rise. According to SheridanHoops, the most likely player to be cut from the Team USA roster as it goes from 16 players down to 12 is Utah Jazz guard Gordon Hayward.

"As for the other cuts that will get the roster down from 16 to 12, Gordon Hayward now seems the most likely to receive the “Thanks for coming” speech before the rest of Team USA boards a plane Saturday to head to Grand Canaria."

Hayward hasn’t had a bad camp with Team USA but a lot of people forgot he was on the roster — which is why he’d be getting cut. He just didn’t make an impact with the team the way many would have liked to see but he’s not alone in being a big name that could get cut.

Derrick Rose remains on the bubble thanks to his sore knee which means Hayward could be joined by some famous company on his way off the Team USA roster.
