Former Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden has some words of advice for current Florida State and reigning Heisman Trophy winning quarterback, Jameis Winston.

More from College Football

After a sexual assault investigation dogged Winston late in his Heisman run and the Seminoles march toward the national championship and an embarrassing shoplifting citation in the spring, Bowden wants Winston to make better decisions and not do anything to embarrass his parents.

"“I think you have to continue to remind him that ‘Son, you’re in the limelight. Everybody is watching every move you make and you cannot make a wrong one,'” Bowden said, according to the Orlando Sentinel. “‘Watch your step, be careful, make sure you don’t do anything you don’t think your parents wouldn’t want you to do.'”"

Clearly these words from Bowden are words to live by for Winston as a number of people are just waiting and hoping he does something to jeopardize his season and derail the Seminoles bid for a second straight championship season.

If he thought the spotlight was bright last season, he is in for a whole new level of attention as fans and media dissect his every waking move on and off the field.

Winston could be the face of college football, much like Johnny Manziel was the last two seasons, and as Winston is finding out or will find out, the media spotlight is only going to shine brighter and brighter with every game.

Florida State opens the regular season on Saturday against Oklahoma State.

Will he heed the advice of Bowden and “be careful” the rest of his college career?

Only time will tell.
