Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki, despite his age, is still one of the best shooters in the NBA.

However, if there was any flaw to Dirk’s game it was that his jumper could at times be a little slower than many would like. It was of course still extremely accurate, but there were times Nowitzki would have to pass out of a shot or alter his shooting plans because of the slow stroke.

Apparently that will no longer be the case as Dirk Nowtizki says he’s been working with his personal shooting coach this offseason and expects to have a quicker shot release for the Dallas Mavericks this season.

“My coach … has just invented a new shooting technique for me,” Nowitzki said. “You can never shoot fast enough.”

With the addition of Chandler Parsons, the Dallas Mavericks are likely to be one of the higher scoring teams in the NBA this season and Dirk’s new style of shooting will only help them achieve such. Granted, it’s not as if the Dallas Mavericks star needed any additional help to improve his game, though as he ages he’s aware he’ll become even more reliant on his jumper. Given that, it makes sense to improve it currently when he can still use his legs to get to the basket occasionally.

Given his health and desire to get better, there’s little reason to believe that Dirk Nowitzki can’t continue to play at a high-level for a significant amount of time. Good news for the Dallas Mavericks.
