There has been a lot of speculation about the future of New York Knicks’ guard Iman Shumpert. Shumpert, however, is preparing to learn the Knicks’ new triangle offense under president Phil Jackson and head coach Derek Fisher.

According to Alex Kennedy of Basketball, Shumpert has been reading Jackson’s books in an attempt to better learn the triangle offense.

"And if they don’t, then Phil Jackson and Derek Fisher can find pieces who will work next to Anthony in the triangle going forward. That’s definitely the direction that the team is heading in, so the players need to buy in or move on. I know a lot of the players have been trying their best to learn the system. For example, Iman Shumpert spent the past few months reading all of Jackson’s books and trying to learn and read up on the triangle. I think the fact that Jackson has had so much success will get players’ attention and make them want to buy in."

Shumpert also could wind up being dealt but it is good to see he is committed to learning the system.

Shumpert put up 6.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 37.8% from the field, 33.3% from beyond the arc and 74.6% from the free throw line last season. In his three-year career, the 17th-overall pick in the first round has put up 7.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 39.1% from the floor, 34.2% from three and 77.5% from beyond the arc.
