In the wake of Paul George’s freak injury, the Indiana Pacers have moved Chris Copeland to small forward to help replace some of the scoring, according to Pacers reporter Scott Agnes.

More from Indiana Pacers

Copeland has spent most of his two-year career at power forward, playing there 52 percent of the time last season, according to basketball-reference.com.

Copeland has the range and shooting ability to make the transition. For his career, Copeland has shot 42 percent from the three-point line and 47.7 percent from the floor.

Last season, he only averaged 2.9 shots and 6.5 minutes per game. It’s a small sample size, but adjusted per 36 minutes Copeland averaged 20.8 points.

However, Copeland’s move doesn’t mean he will start in place of George. According to Agnes, Solomon Hill started with the first unit during Tuesday’s practice. We’re a long way from the beginning of the season, so it’s still anyone’s job. Regardless of who starts, both Copeland and Hill will see increased playing time this season.
