Large iPad to be delayed by Apple?

Apple was scheduled to launch a new, larger iPad at an event taking place on October 16. However, due to the demand of the iPhone 6, those plans may be put on hold.

Just recently we learned that the next big event for Apple is scheduled to take place on October 16. At this point, everyone is expecting information regarding the launch of the next wave of iPads, as well as OS X Yosemite, and the next wave of Mac computers. However, now the larger iPad may be in jeopardy of seeing its launch.

Apple just pushed out the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus a few weeks ago. With the response to the iPhone 6 Plus has had extremely high demand, and Apple has struggled to allocate the resources to keep up. With that in mind, it seems that Apple believes spending time elsewhere would not be in their best interests.

Now, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that the 12.9 inch iPad will be pushed back into 2015.

As was projected, sales of the new iPhone 6 are doing incredibly well. In the first weekend, Apple sold a new record, 10 million units. With iPad sales trending downward and the sales of the newest Apple smartphone through the roof, it wouldn’t make sense to shift the focus.

Look for Apple to possibly shelve the 12.9 inch iPad altogether during the event on October 16. While the company could talk about the new piece of hardware as a way to peak interest, doing so and not having product available may not be the best option.

As the tablet market has continued to grow, the iPad has remained an integral piece of technology. However, with little differentiation between each model, there is no real significant reason to upgrade, and Apple has felt the hurt of slowing sales.

Hopefully the newest Apple iPad Air and iPad Mini bring enough with it to warrant another purchase. A tablet is a rather one time buying decision until enough innovation is shown to warrant otherwise.

Stay tuned for the event from Apple next week.
