The Dallas Cowboys felt like they were playing on the road when they hosted the Houston Texans at AT&T Stadium earlier in the season. The visiting fans were so loud that the Cowboys had to use a silent count on their home-field, something that is basically unheard of in the NFL.
It also sparked some controversial and critical remarks from star quarterback Tony Romo.
The Cowboys have raced out to a 5-1 start heading into Sunday’s game against NFC East rivals, the New York Giants on Sunday, and excitement is building about the team. That translates to more fans showing up for the game, and the change was noticeable during the Giants game.
Romo, who criticized the Cowboys fans at the Texans game, is praising those that showed up at the Giants game and compared them to the Seattle Seahawks’ 12th man, who has a reputation for being loud and rowdy.
“It was outstanding out there,’’ Romo said, via the Dallas Morning News. “We have such a strong contingent of fans across America, and obviously here they showed up today. They were a big part of that win and I think that is going to continue at home.
“It felt a lot like what Seattle had up there, so that is pretty big.’’
