Dez Bryant had a slow start on Sunday afternoon, but the Dallas Cowboys wide receiver had a second half surge that he credits to some wardrobe changes.

You would have never guessed that Bryant had a slow start, because he went on to finish the game with nine catches for 151 yards. After the Cowboys’ sixth-straight win of the NFL regular season, Dez Bryant explained why he had such a drastic second-half surge.

The answer: Because he felt more comfortable, after some wardrobe changes.

Bryant told the Dallas Morning News after the game that he changed his cleats and added a visor to his helmet at the half.

“Truthfully, it makes me feel a certain way,” Bryant told the paper. “I feel like I have to go back to being me, wear the things I normally wear and don’t try to do anything different.”

The change was influenced by a slip early in the game which led to a Tony Romo interception.

“It was bothering me so much,” Bryant said. “I was like, ‘I got to let it go.’

“I think what I learned to do is not to make things personal, because I think once you make things personal you tend to fall off a little bit.”

That maturity from Bryant could explain why he has been able to stay in games and avoid the sideline blowups which were often covered and scrutinized a season ago.

As a whole, the Cowboys have done a better job at showing mental toughness and that has led to the team having the highest winning percentage in the NFL.
