More from Houston Rockets

Over the last few days, a lot has been made over the relationship between Los Angeles Lakers’ guard Kobe Bryant and Houston Rockets’ center Dwight Howard when they played together during the 2012-2013 season.

Bryant and Howard reportedly didn’t get along because Howard didn’t take things serious enough. After the season, Howard signed with the Houston Rockets. Howard has been defending himself, saying his departure had nothing to do with Bryant.

Although Howard did go to a better situation playing with James Harden in Houston, it’s hard to believe that it had nothing at all to do with Bryant.

The Lakers played host to the Rockets on Tuesday night on the NBA’s opening night. The Rockets, who have a much more talented team, dominated the Lakers in a 108-90 victory. Howard played just 21 minutes because of foul trouble but had 13 points and 11 rebounds. Bryant, returning from a knee injury, scored 19 points on six-of-17 shooting.

However, the highlight for each player came in the second half. Howard caught Bryant with a couple of elbows that caused a war of words. It ended up with Bryant telling Howard “try me.” He then shook his head and wound up calling Howard “soft.”
