Joe Maddon was introduced as the newest MLB manager of the Chicago Cubs today, and he then proceeded to win the hearts of everyone in attendance through a celebratory drink.
If you needed further indication as to why Joe Maddon is the best thing going in the world of baseball managers, he decided to give you more proof today following his introductory press conference for the Chicago Cubs. With Wrigley Field under construction, the Cubs held the press conference at a bar across the street.
Following the introduction as the new Cubs manager, Maddon got the attention of the bartender and put a smile on the faces of everyone in attendance.
Thanks to Chris Emma of The Score, we have the quote:
What better way to end a press conference? "Barkeep! I've got first round. It's on me, a shot and a beer." Joe Maddon wins.

Forget what time of day it was, and whether or not you consider sitting in on an introductory press conference for one of the coolest guys in baseball work, no one was going to turn that offer down.
Maddon said, “It’s the Hazelton way,” in a reference to his hometown in Pennsylvania.
At this point, I don’t think we have to worry about the tab either. Considering his new contract with the Cubs spans the next five years, and pays him $25 million, he is doing just fine.
The Chicago Cubs fans are clamoring for a trip to the postseason and better yet a World Series title. With the farm system they have in place, and now the man they have in charge, the franchise hasn’t been in better hands.
Theo Epstein has done an incredible job, as was to be expected, since coming over to the franchise from the Boston Red Sox. Look for Joe Maddon to be just another great move by the organization’s general manager.
