Texas A&M traveled to Monroe expecting an easy win over a Sun Belt team after a three game losing streak that has many people questioning what they saw in the beginning of the year. The Aggies were able to escape in the first post-Kenny Hill era with a narrow 21-16, but lost something that might be more valuable.
Germain Ifedi suffered a grade-two MCL pain, which according to coach Sumlin, means he should miss the remainder of the season. Now he will leave his team for the next three games, a stretch of games the Aggies may only win one during while hosting Auburn, Louisiana State and Missouri. Although he will miss these games, it is expected that he will be ready when the bowl season starts. Here’s what Sumlin had to say:
"“He’s iffy for this weekend. I don’t think he’s going to practice this week. It’s a very, very painful situation. I don’t know where he’s going to be.”“On bigger guys, that’s a problem. I wouldn’t look to see him for the remainder of the regular season. We’ll probably get him back for the bowl game.”"
There are some saying that Ifedi has been a liability, calling for names like Ogbuehi.
Ifedi has never missed a start in his two-year career, sophomore Ryan Lindblade will now take his place on the depth chart.
