You’ve likely heard the story of Lauren Hill, a freshman at Mount St. Joseph told she had only months to live in September due to an inoperable brain tumor, and how the college, NCAA, and Hiram College, their opponents,

moved

the game up by two weeks in the hope that Hill would be healthy enough to play in a game.

Wheaties honored Hill’s courage and dedication with a special box of the cereal, a pretty cool gesture:

Hill started Sunday’s game, scoring a quick left-handed layup before exiting the game, and then later returning for the final minute, following chants of “We Love Lauren,” when she added another layup for four total points. The second layup was with her right hand, which is her shooting hand, but has been weakened by the tumor, which she said made it just as sweet as scoring on her first attempt.

Congrats to Hill on both the Wheaties box and scoring the first basket of the 2014-2015 NCAA basketball season. Best of luck and keep fighting.
