On the coaching hot seat, San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh thought he had lost on last play of regulation

For a moment at the end of regulation between the San Francisco 49ers and

New Orleans Saints

, it appeared that Jim Harbaugh’s

NFL

coaching career in San Francisco had been sealed.  Saints tight end Jimmy Graham caught what looked like a game-winning hail mary in the end zone.

Harbaugh was beside himself.  He threw his papers all over the place and had a look on his face like it was the most unbelievable thing he’d ever seen.  Was he really going to lose the game and ultimately his job because of that?  Luckily for him, Graham was caught pushing off.

What an amazing last few minutes of regulation and overtime though.  The Saints gave the Niners every chance to stay in it and win it.  With 1:52 left in regulation, the Saints took a 24-21 lead on the Niners. The Niners were down to their last play.  They had a fourth and 10 and sitting on the Saints 22-yard line.  It was over right?  Not so much.

The Saints defense allowed quarterback Colin Kaepernick a ton of time to roll to his right and he found receiver Michael Crabtree wide open for a 51-yard reception. Four plays later, the Niners tied the game on a 45-yard field goal by Phil Dawson. Then they left the gates open for Saints quarterback Drew Brees for one more comeback.

They almost pulled it off.  Brees found Graham in the end zone except for one problem.  He pushed off.  There was a little bit of a flop or acting job or whatever you want to call it but it was the right call. Then after each team got the ball and punted on their first possession of overtime, Brees fumbled on their second possession.

The Niners wasted no time and Dawson put up the 35-yard field goal for the 27-24 win.  Harbaugh’s fate is still in the envelope though but the flap is still open for now.
