Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Young thinks the team relies on Kobe Bryant too much.

If Nick Young had his way, the Los Angeles Lakers would be his team.

Okay, maybe he wouldn’t go that far though the offensively minded guard seems to think his teammates and coaching staff are relying on Kobe Bryant far too much as he told the LA Daily News:

“At times, we fall into relying on No. 24 a lot,” Young said. “We got to believe in ourselves. I believe in everybody on this team. Kobe is going to be Kobe. But we have to find a way to put the ball in the hole with everybody else.”

While this might come off as a slant at Kobe Bryant, especially given Nick Young’s desire to be an offensive focal point, it’s more about the lack of confidence on the roster than it is Bryant.

Yes, it’s rather obvious to just about anybody who watches the Los Angeles Lakers that Kobe Bryant is doing too much, though much of it has been needed given the woeful play from his teammates. Nick Young appears to be suggesting the rest of the roster get things together and help Bryant out by not playing so terrible.

Ironically enough Lakers head coach Byron Scott doesn’t seem to agree with Nick Young and thinks Kobe Bryant’s role is just fine.

“I thought tonight because of the way they were loading up, they did a great job in forcing them to come at him. When they came at him, he did a great job of finding guys. We just missed shots.”

Not only do the Lakers have a lack of talent but they’re also dealing with what looks to be an internal struggle regarding the usage of their best player.
