The Oakland A’s already made one big trade this MLB off-season, and now they might have their eyes on a deal with the Atlanta Braves for either Justin Upton or Evan Gattis.

In order to acquire Brett Lawrie and three prospects from the Toronto Blue Jays, the Oakland A’s decided to trade away Josh Donaldson. Besides trading their best player, that meant that the A’s traded away a right-handed power hitter.

Less than 24 hours after that deal is done, and the A’s already have their eyes on potential replacements for that power in their lineup.

The Atlanta Braves, like the A’s, are making significant moves to retool their roster this off-season. The biggest move prior to the Josh Donaldson trade was the deal that centered around sending Jason Heyward to the St. Louis Cardinals for starting pitcher Shelby Miller. Now it sounds like these two active front offices, Oakland and Atlanta, might be talking to each other about a deal.

According to John Hickey, the A’s are talking to the Braves about potential trades for Justin Upton or Evan Gattis. As if that’s not enough, the A’s would potentially be looking to trade starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija.

It’s not even December, and already we might have the groundwork for a third blockbuster MLB trade.

This has been a crazy hot stove so far, and it might continue that way thanks to the two teams that have already been the most active in making changes to their roster.
