Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers speaks on his relationship with Michael Jordan and compares the NBA icon to a Buddha sitting atop a mountain.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

In a matter of weeks, Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant will pass Michael Jordan for the third spot on the NBA’s All-Time scoring list.

While the achievement alone is amazing, it will hold a special place in Bryant’s heart considering he has shared so much and become such good friends with the NBA legend.

Bryant spoke with Bleacher Report recently and talked about the relationship the two share including the best advice that Michael Jordan had ever given the Los Angeles Lakers icon.

What exactly that advice was though, will never be known, as Kobe Bryant says to find out you’ll need to take the same path as he did.

“To get that kind of information, to me it’s like climbing Mount Everest and speaking to a Buddha at the top of the mountain. You want that information? You’ve got to climb that mountain yourself.”

Considering none of us will ever take the same route as Bryant, that apparently will be going to the proverbial basketball grave with the Lakers guard though the entire piece is a fascinating read, especially if you’re a fan of either player.

In addition to speaking about his relationship with Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant also didn’t hold any punches to some of his former mentors which include Karl Malone and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who Braynt states he has no relationships with.

“With Karl, zero. With Kareem, I haven’t seen him since he stopped coaching with the Lakers organization [2005-09].”

As we speak, Kobe Bryant sits with 32,165 points. Michael Jordan is just over 100 away at 32, 292 points. After Jordan it’s the aforementioned Karl Malone and Abdul-Jabbar, though both may be out of reach for the Black Mamba.
