These five NHL players are killing their team’s salary cap structure with their production on the ice not matching the big checks they’re receiving off the ice and are the most overpaid players in the league

In recent weeks the NHL player rankings has taken a look at the highest-paid players in the league and last identified the top five biggest bargains so this week takes a look at the players who aren’t living up to their contract and are the most overpaid players in hockey.

Every general manager has been caught up in a free agent frenzy where they deal out millions of dollars to a player they believe will be the missing ingredient for a team to make the playoffs or get over the hump in the playoffs and advance to the Stanley Cup Final.

Sometimes that free agent signing or the re-signing of your own player doesn’t work as you hoped when that player signed his name on the contract and he ends up being a colossal bust who isn’t worth the money and you end up with buyer’s remorse or feel like you’ve been ripped off.

The five teams paying the salary for these five players are feeling the effects of these bad deals and wish they could get out from underneath them when they are handcuffed and can’t rectify the problem because of the salary cap.

After reading through the list, please leave your thoughts and reactions in the comments section below.

Without further ado, here are the five most overpaid players in the NHL.
