College Football Playoff Betting Odds: Alabama, Oregon Heavily Favored

The opening College Football Playoff betting odds have been released, minutes after college football‘s final four teams were announced. 


On Sunday morning, the College Football Playoff Selection Committee announced their final four teams and the College Football Playoff betting odds quickly followed from the folks in Las Vegas.

In what came as no surprise, the top four teams were No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Oregon, No. 3 Florida State and No. 4 Ohio State.

The matchups are as follows:

  • Alabama vs. Ohio State at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana
  • Oregon vs. Florida State at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California

But what are the betting odds for the national semifinals?

According to the Las Vegas Superbook, the Alabama Crimson Tide and Oregon Ducks will be heavy favorites. Alabama is a 9.5-point favorite over Ohio State, while the Ducks are favored by 8.5 over Florida State — making Florida State an underdog for the first time in fifty games.

Florida State would also be underdogs against Alabama, Ohio State, TCU, Baylor, Mississippi State and Michigan state.

Alabama’s spread is the 68th game in a row where they have been favored. The streak dates back to 2009.

The odds really don’t come as a surprise.

Throughout the past few weeks, Alabama and Oregon have been as impressive as anyone in the country. Meanwhile, Ohio State is starting a third-string quarterback and Florida State has only managed to squeak out victories week after week.

And who will win the national title, according to the College Football Playoff betting odds? Alabama.

  • Oregon: +160
  • Ohio St: +700
  • Florida St: +800
