Coach K Found Out About Jon Lester Deal On Live Radio (Video)

You can count Coach K among the Chicago Cubs‘ fans who were happy to learn that Jon Lester had signed a lucrative deal in MLB Free Agency to pitch on the North side for the foreseeable future.
There is a buzz among Cubs’ fans. Even among that group of people, one that knows how to temper expectations and prepare for disappointment, many seem willing to admit that they like the Cubs’ chances to contend in 2015 and beyond.

Mike Krzyzewski is among the most famous Cubs’ fans, and it just so happens that he got to react to the team’s signing of top free agent Jon Lester on live radio. While talking with Dan Patrick, Coach K heard about the Lester news for the first time. His reaction, simply enough:
“Hallelujah.”
That sums it up.
With Theo Epstein in the front office, Joe Maddon as the manager, a bevy of young hitters, and now Lester to anchor the roation, it appears that the pieces are in place for the Cubs to matter sooner rather than later. There might even be room for genuine optimism among Coach K and the rest of the Cubs’ fan base, however guarded that optimism might be.
