New York Jets owner Woody Johnson apologized on Twitter, claiming he inadvertently favorited a tweet that implored him to fire GM John Idzik.

New York Jets owner Woody Johnson has one of two problems. Either he’s a passive aggressive social media monger who can’t help himself or he’s just really bad with Twitter. If you ask him, it’s the latter.

After Johnson favorited a tweet directed at him which said he needed to fire GM John Idzik, he followed that up with an apology, claiming that his ‘favorite’ was a mistake.

Woody Johnson shouldn’t feel too bad for this gaffe. There have been more egregious ‘favorite’ errors in the past. Just ask Russell Wilson. But one has to wonder why he doesn’t ‘undo favorite’.

Obviously people can still screenshot it so it’s not the end-all solution, but it’s out there.

Idzik has been widely rumored to be on borrowed time given the abysmal season his New York Jets are currently suffering. While Woody Johnson has neither confirmed nor denied as much, it appears he’s carefully monitoring fan reactions and taking notes in advance of what will be a very busy offseason in New York.
