Jeff Triplette Had No Idea What The Hell Was Going On (Video)
By Josh Hill
NFL referees have a hard job to do, but they’re so hated and polarizing that when they mess something up it’s usually amazing and hilarious, especially when it’s Jeff Triplette.
The San Francisco 49ers and San Diego Chargers played what may end up being a meaningless game when the season is all said and done, but that doesn’t mean it’s not interesting things aren’t happening regardless.

While Colin Kaepernick managed to tear off a 90-yard run, the second longest by a quarterback ever, and Philip Rivers threw the ball everywhere, one of the most interesting moments of the night came courtesy of Jeff Triplette. In the Chargers comeback win over the 49ers on Saturday night, the long time NFL official had a little bit of a problem getting his penalty call right in one of the more classic brain fart moments we’ve seen all season.
For all intents and purposes, Jeff Triplette had no idea what the hell was going on.
This is going to open official up to further trolling, as the league already has a massive problem to deal with in it’s inconsistent officiating. Triplette didn’t miss a call or fabricate a penalty, but officials are always supposed to know what is going on and be the most reliable people on the field at a given time.
It’s hilarious to see Triplette struggle to get through his call, as he even appears to laugh at his own embarrassment at one point, but this is pretty much a solid representation of how crappy NFL officials have been since throwing a fit about the equally as crappy replacement refs.
