Nebraska Cornhuskers QB Takes Snap To Face (Video)

Not saying this is why they lost but the Nebraska Cornhuskers won’t win many games playing like this

It was a rough night for the Nebraska Cornhuskers in their NCAA Holiday Bowl game last night in San Diego as they lost to the USC Trojans 45-42.  For Cornhuskers quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr it was a decent night on the stat sheet but not everything went right for him either.

Armstrong had a good night for the most part.  He went 32-51 for 381 yards with three touchdowns.  He also had one interception to go with those touchdowns but did have numerous balls that should have been interception by Trojan defenders.  There was one other play that didn’t go so well for the Cornhusker quarterback.

Armstrong had one snap go directly to his facemask.  Now, I’m going to assume that wasn’t a designed play but if it was, new head coach Mike Riley may want to leave that one out of the playbook in the future.

Just wow.  You know things aren’t going your way when something like that happens.  However Nebraska did not give up.  Armstrong led the Cornhuskers to a furious comeback.  They were down 38-24 and 45-27 before mounting an attempted comeback but falling just short in the end.

I’ll have to check, but I’m not sure the direct snap to the facemask has ever worked.  This wasn’t the first time I’ve seen it happen but usually bad things ensue.  Armstrong still had a decent night but in the end the play was just an indication of the night it would end up being for the Cornhuskers.
