Seahawks’ Paul Richardson tears ACL
The Seattle Seahawks receiving corps suffered another blow
Seattle Seahawks rookie receiver Paul Richardson has been coming on big as of late for the Seahawks. Unfortunately, after he made a big catch deep in Panthers territory last night, Richardson was hurt on the play.
It appears that Richardson tore his ACL on the play, which is bad news for Seattle as it takes away one of their emerging weapons and a player who can change the game in one play with his speed.
This isn’t the first time Richardson has torn the ACL in the same knee. When he played in college at Colorado, he suffered the same injury in 2012.
It’s tough news for Seattle as Richardson had really taken over the speed receiver role after the team shipped Percy Harvin off to the New York Jets earlier in the year.
Richardson was the third most targeted Seahawks receiver this year. He was targeted 44 times and had 29 catches for 271 yards to go along with his first touchdown he recorded against rival San Francisco.
After trading out of the first-round in the NFL draft this year, Richardson was Seattle’s first pick and a guy that coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider believed in enough to come in and make a difference in the offense.
It is an unfortunate injury for a young player and hopefully the 2015 season won’t be in jeopardy as a result of this for Richardson.
