Louisville’s Katie George wins Miss Kentucky USA pageant

Louisville volleyball player Katie George can call her first beauty pageant a success, after winning Miss Kentucky USA over the weekend.
On Sunday night, we got to digest the NFL playoff action and tune in to the Golden Globe Awards. There was also a Miss Kentucky USA pageant which had an unusual connection to the sports world.

One of the 17 contestants that competed in the beauty pageant was Louisville Cardinals volleyball player Katie George.
Not only did George compete, she was able to come away with the win.
“I can’t tell you what just happened to me. I’ve never been in a pageant before and I’ve never worn a crown, but this is a pretty amazing feeling,” said George, via The Courier-Journal. “So I am excited to represent the Commonwealth of Kentucky.”
Katie George is a junior setter for the Louisville volleyball team, who also represented the United States at the European Global Challenge Tournament in Croatia where the team won silver and was named to the All Tournament team. I think it is safe to say that this is an accomplishment worth celebrating.
