WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan wants the classic tournament brought back to the company

For years, the King of the Ring was a staple in WWE history that elevated wrestlers such as Kurt Angle, The Rock, Edge, Brock Lesnar, Steve Austin, Triple H, and many others. It went from being a pay-per-view to ending up on Monday Night RAW, and since 2010, there hasn’t been a King of the Ring tournament.

With Smackdown moving back to Thursday nights, Bryan has big plans for the show in 2015. Along with being the guy to lead Smackdown, much like John Cena leads RAW, Bryan wants to be able to bring his ideas on board for the new era of the Thursday night wrestling program.

The King of the Ring is one of those big ideas.

In an interview with FanSided, Bryan said he would love to bring back the King of the Ring tournament.

“That’s interesting. I would like to have the King of the Ring tournament on Smackdown. The King of the Ring tournament is something that the WWE used to do on a usual basis, and they’ve gotten away from it,” Bryan said, “One, I love tournaments. Two, I think if you do the tournament exclusively on Smackdown the fans will get really excited about it and they’ll get geared up for it. Then crowning a King of the Ring champion on Smackdown, I think that would be awesome. That’s one of the many ideas I have for Smackdown in 2015.”

Bryan is right. The WWE currently needs to build up young talent to lead the company into a new era. They currently have guys like Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Dolph Ziggler, and others ready to lead a new era of WWE Superstars.

The WWE currently uses the Money In The Bank pay-per-view to help elevate young talent like Rollins who won the briefcase last year. Adding the King of the Ring, would allow them to elevate even more young guys and propel the company to a brighter future.

Bryan, whose “YES” chants are the most popular thing currently in the WWE, is the perfect man to lead the charge on Smackdown, and more importantly bring important things such as the King of the Ring back to the company.

Since coming over from the indie scene, Bryan is one of the most popular wrestlers with his wrestling ability and the fantastic matches he competes in.

Bryan, has already proven to the WWE that he knows what the fans want, and it’s time they listen to him again. There’s a lot of great talent in the ranks, it’s time to build them up.
