Michael Irvin read his contract to see incentives before Super Bowl

Michael Irvin said he’d read his contract before the Super Bowl for extra incentive.

When a team makes it to the Super Bowl, everyone is focused on winning the ultimate prize and helping the team in anyway they can. For former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin, that wasn’t the case.

While waiting for the NFL Media day to start, NFL Network’s analysts talked about their night before routines. Stories ranged from being unable to sleep and needing the aid of a magic pill, others slept like babies.

That is when Irvin chimed in. He stayed up reading his contract to figure out what incentives he could earn in the big game.

“I used the night before like a gas station, I wanted to fuel up and use as many things as I can to fuel up,” Irvin said.

“I went over my contract, I wanted to make sure I knew all the incentives that would come down in this Super Bowl. Any way I could make another dolla holla, by catching a ball off the top of your head, I was going to get that done in front of the world.”

It is pretty hilarious to watch Irvin go off on this rant. I certainly would love to see his pre-Super Bowl pregame speech which I’m sure included a break down of what he needed to do to make more money.

It worked for him though, he won three Super Bowls.
