Doug Baldwin apologizes for Super Bowl touchdown celebration
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver, Doug Baldwin, apologizes for his immature touchdown celebration in Super Bowl XLIX.
People normally want to wear the pants in their relationships.
However, when the Seattle Seahawks played against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX, there weren’t too many moments that were more memorable than Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin’s touchdown catch as he did the complete opposite than wearing pants.

It was a 17-14 game with the Seahawks winning and they were attempting to capitalize on a bigger lead.
So as 2nd & goal approached and the Seahawks had the football around the four yard line, quarterback Russell Wilson dialed up a play action pass which resulted in a wide open Baldwin in the endzone. As Baldwin caught the touchdown pass to leave the game with the Seahawks winning 23-14, he then proceeded to take his imaginary pants off (like Randy Moss), and then drop a deuce on the pigskin.
At the time it was understood Baldwin was getting the best of his competition, which is why he metaphorically took a dump on his opponents during the game. Although, in retrospect it probably wasn’t the best idea to execute as they were millions upon millions of people watching the biggest football game of the year.
So when angry Doug Baldwin, wasn’t his normal angry self (of course we’re just playing) it was refreshing to see. In an interview with ESPN Seattle, Baldwin wised up and said these words:
"“In that moment it was just a reaction, and if I could go back, I would take it back…In that moment it was a spontaneous reaction to the course of the game. That’s not typically me, but in that situation that’s just what happened … Personally I didn’t mean anything by it negatively towards anybody. I do regret the fact that it cost my team 15 yards. And to the fans, ultimately I do apologize to anybody who I offended in any way.”"
We can understand it was a reaction, and there was no reason to blow this out of proportion. But for a team like Seattle who already has discipline issues when it comes to scoring touchdowns, they need to tone it down a bit. Otherwise, the players on their team are going to become famous for the wrong reasons, instead of being famous for being amazing football players.
At the end of the day wasn’t it more egregious for Baldwin to continue to play the rest of the game with his imaginary pants down?
At least he could’ve wiped too.
