Josh Smith met Terrence Ross right at the rim, and only one of them could win.

Josh Smith has had one of the quickest declines of any star player that wasn’t from an injury, but that doesn’t change how awesome this was.

Terrence Ross won the dunk contest in 2013 and has thrown down some really vicious in-game dunks in his days, but Smith wasn’t having any of that tonight.

Ross was flying high for another poster to put on his resume, but Smith went up with two hands to block the ball right against the backboard.

I bet you wouldn’t have believe me if I told you five years ago that the best thing Smith would do in an entire season is a sweet little block, but hey, that’s where we are now.

Smith went from being nearly a 20-point, 10-rebound all-star to a bench player that averages 11.8 points (45 percent shooting) and 6.1 rebounds per game.

He actually had back-to-back 20-point games for the first time all year right before the all-star break, and he will have his chance to be a huge contributor if Dwight Howard remains on the sidelines.

Who knows, maybe he will catch on late and Houston will make a playoff run.
