The Wisconsin Badgers are using an old Chris Farley video to scare Badger recruits into coming to Wisconsin.

Apparently deceased comedian Chris Farley was a Wisconsin Badgers fan (actually if you look at any clips of him on YouTube, you’d find that he most definitely was, as well as a passionate Packers fan).

And if the response of the university, and specifically its football program, is any indication, his last wish in life was to have his image used to boost the program’s football recruiting, even posthumously.

Farley, decked out in Wisconsin Badgers gear, here is seen essentially saying that the only road to happiness in this life is to attend Wisconsin.

Farley was not afraid to include his passion for the Badgers in his comedy. But as can be seen in this video with his Saturday Night Live character Matt Foley, it was not always so obvious.

But that is why Wisconsin has gone to great lengths to promote Farley’s work.

The above YouTube video is an ode to a sketch on SNL where he warns of “living in a van down by the river”. He, as a 35-year-old divorced motivational speaker is himself living in a van down by the river.

He scares two teenage kids—David Spade and Christian Applegate—straight into right living.

The message apparently that Farley would have for football recruits is that to not attend Wisconsin would be to put oneself in harm’s way of living in a van down by the river.
