Green Bay Packers star wide receiver Randall Cobb is searching for around $12 million per season in free agency this offseason.

Randall Cobb is one of the more intriguing free agents that will be on the market this offseason, and will draw quite a bit of interest on the open market. The Green Bay Packers have been trying to work out a long-term deal with him, but the $12 million that he is reportedly searching for may be too high for them to agree to.

If Cobb does reach the open market, he is going to have his choice of teams that are desperately searching for help at the wide receiver position. Teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars, Oakland Raiders, and Cleveland Browns immediately come to mind. All three of those teams are wanting a star wideout, and Cobb would fill that void for them.

At 24 years old, Cobb is just beginning to reach the edge of his potential. There is still plenty of room for him to grow and improve, which is a very scary thought for opposing defenses.

Cobb ended up catching 91 passes for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns throughout the course of the season. He was an excellent compliment to Jordy Nelson, who also ended up having a huge season. Aaron Rodgers grew noticeably more comfortable with Cobb throughout the course of the season, and he was a dynamic weapon all year-long for Green Bay.

Green Bay desperately wants to bring him back, but they can’t afford to spend $12 million per season on him. They will be comfortable with Nelson, Davante Adams, and whoever else they sign or draft to replace Cobb.

Needless to say, this news makes Cobb an even more intriguing name to follow as free agency continues to draw closer. There aren’t many wide receivers with the talent and skill-set that Cobb possesses, and plenty of teams will be bidding against each other to bring him on board.

Earlier on in the offseason, it appeared that Cobb was searching for a contract that was worth around $9 million per season. Following the NFL Draft combine, it seems that he has upped his demands after hearing from other teams what his value truly was. It will be interesting to see what number he ends up signing for, and where he ends up.

One thing that can be said as a fact, is that whoever signs him will not regret spending their money. He is a difference maker, and could help any team that signs him. Expect plenty of rumors to fly around about Cobb over the next couple weeks.
