Aldon Smith has agreed to restructure his contract with the San Francisco 49ers. His contract is no longer fully guaranteed.

The San Francisco 49ers added Darnell Dockett to the defense this morning. He will be a nice piece added onto the defensive line. He should bring some help to the defense. The team is also waiting to see what Justin Smith will do for the season. He is contemplating retirement, but still may get back onto the field for another season.

The 49ers also decided to restructure the contract for Aldon Smith.

The deal might not save anything on the salary cap, but the deal is no longer fully guaranteed. This means that Smith will have to behave in order to make his money. That should be a good incentive for him to keep clean for a little bit.

Smith has had continuously had issues keeping clean. He has been arrested for a DUI. He called in a bomb threat on LAX airport and he also has been suspended for his involvement in a violent house party. Smith needs to stay away from all the shenanigans and stay on the football field.

The San Francisco 49ers would love to keep him on the field. As long as he is on the field, then they will be happy to pay him the money. It is a smart move by the 49ers to restructure his deal so that he earns all the money by playing in the games.
