Injured Los Angeles Lakers wingman Nick Young made a few appearances on E!’s clip show featuring Joel McHale.

Los Angeles Lakers fans have not had much to smile about this year. The team sits at 17-48 and injuries to Kobe Bryant and Julius Randle have killed this season’s goals.

But the Lakers still have Swaggy P.

Nick Young has endured a somewhat humbling year on the basketball court, shooting only 37% from the field, averaging a monumental one assist per game and possibly sitting out for more time due to swelling in his knee.

Off the court, Nick Young is living the American Dream, dating Iggy Azalea and just generally living life the Swaggy way in Los Angeles.

He appeared on E!’s The Soup, hosted by Joel McHale, where he was able to show off his comic abilities on the small screen.

Swaggy P did have a little trouble keeping a straight face during some of the bits.

Nick Young was on the receiving end of some comedic assists from McHale throughout the program. Young didn’t dish out any assists, because that’s not what he does, but he did seem comfortable sharing the stage with the seasoned host.

For the Lakers, it will be hard to find a silver lining to a season that saw the team regress without allowing for its key players to develop. Whether or not Nick Young is best for the team remains to be seen.

On one hand, Young can derail the Lakers flow by taking ill advised shots, only recording assists on accident, and being liberal with defensive spacing.

On the other hand, Young is a locker room leader who, despite his humorous antics, provides the Lakers young players with a guiding presence that isn’t as authoritarian as Kobe. He brings an element of fun and entertainment to practices, and that translates to the games.

Of course Lakers fans would probably prefer wins to fun, but for the time being Swaggy is going to be Swaggy and the Lakers are going to be in the lottery.
