White Sox spell Jeff Samardzija’s name wrong (Photo)
The Chicago White Sox had trouble spelling the name of their pitcher on the Opening Day lineup card
Jeff Samardzija has one of the most difficult names in sports and because of that, he is commonly referred to by his nickname, “Shark.”

With Samardzija being named the Opening Day starter for the White Sox after being acquired in the off-season, the team wrote him into the pitchers spot on the lineup card.
To drum up excitement amongst fans, the team posted their first lineup of the year on Twitter, before they take on the Kansas City Royals on the road Monday.
Unfortunately, the White Sox like most people, misspelled the name of their starting pitcher.
The White Sox spelled Samardzija, “Smardzija” instead.
The incredible part is that the team didn’t struggle with the cluster of consonants at the end of his name. Rather, they forgot a vowel and the second letter of his name.
Sounding out the syllables in the name Samardzija make it even apparent there’s an “a” right off the bat.
The White Sox still deserve a pass on this one, because just as it is for everyone else, Samardzija is really hard to spell.
