With the NBA playoffs in full-swing, season awards have begun to be released. Draymond Green finished second in Defensive Player of the Year and his mom is not happy.

Being the mother of a guy like Draymond Green has to come with some sort of instructions. The Golden State Warriors star is a trash-talking machine and his mom has to know how to handle him at his best as well as at his worst in order to make him happy.

What if his mom is the one who taught him everything he knows about trash-talking?

According to Yahoo! Sports‘ Marc J. Spears, his mom is the one who taught him to be hard-nosed as well as a great trash-talker.

Green even went on to say, “Now you’ve seen what I’ve grown up with my entire life. Everybody wonders why I talk junk. I was doomed from the day I walked into her household. She’s great. That’s where I get my competitive nature from.”

It’s been widely publicized that his mother even told a beat reporter who didn’t vote Green on an NBA All-Defensive team to jump in a lake with weights on, via Twitter.

She might be even bigger of spewer of verbal trash than he is — and he’s in the NBA.

Now that season-ending awards are being announced, Draymond Green was hopeful he might get a chance to prove he is the league’s Defensive Player of the Year. He has shown some greatness on that side of the ball in the playoffs so far, grabbing 24 rebounds, blocking three shots and stealing the ball six times.

Green has held the Pelicans‘ offense in check, for the most part.

After even shutting down Anthony Davis a bit, it seemed like Green would be nearly a lock for Defensive Player of the year, but that wasn’t the case. Despite being undersized, he can play any position and play it well. He has shown he is one of the premier defenders in all the league, but he ended up second in DPOY voting only to the Spurs‘ Kawhi Leonard.

Draymond’s mom wasn’t too happy as her son finished with more first-place votes, but still fell short of the coveted award.

This is clearly a shot at Spurs’ head coach Gregg Popovich and many people, including Mary Babers-Green, believe that the only reason Leonard won was because he’s on the Spurs.

Many people aren’t happy that Green had eight more first-place votes than Leonard, but he was left off a number of ballots completely.

Maybe next year for Draymond, but his No. 1 fan has his back.
