Hopefully the Dallas Cowboys second-round pick doesn’t end up on another team in the NFC East.

Despite being one of the most talented players in the draft, Nebraska defensive end Randy Gregory fell all the way to the No. 60 overall pick. Just days after the draft, Gregory wanted to show some appreciation to the team that finally ended his slide.

Gregory showed off a new tattoo featuring the iconic star of the Dallas Cowboys, who spent a second-round pick on him.

Even if Gregory probably won’t spend his entire career in Dallas, it’s an appropriate gesture to a team that gave him a chance.

Gregory’s slide had nothing to do with his amount of talent, as he racked up 17.5 sacks in just two seasons at Nebraska. The 6-5 235 pound Gregory showed excellent athleticism for his size and could be an effective pass rusher or run defender at the next level.

Instead, it was off the field problems that caused Gregory to fall to the second round. Gregory tested positive for marijuana at the combine, which led to a lot of concern and scrutiny leading up to the draft.

That doesn’t seem like enough of a reason for Gregory to slide so far-Shane Ray was drafted in the first round under similar circumstances and Gregory is a superior prospect. It appears Gregory has more off-the-field concerns that only teams know about.

If the Cowboys can help him with those concerns, they could have the steal of the draft. Gregory seems appreciative enough to work towards that point anyway.
