Wizards head coach Randy Wittman goes on rant about John Wall (Video)

Randy Wittman is under a lot of pressure to win with the Washington Wizards, but losing John Wall is something that has sent him over the edge.

The Washington Wizards are in the postseason again this season and yet again it appears they may be getting bounced in the second round of the playoffs. John Wall’s recent hand injury may sideline him for 4-5 weeks — which is time the Wizards simply do not have.

To add to the stress, there was a report by Washington Post reporter Michael Lee that Wall and Wizards teams doctors are clashing over how long he should be out. Wittman, trying to be a team player while simultaneously blowing off steam, blew up when asked about the situation.

Needless to say, Wittman — who is largely regarded at the most scrutinized coach in the NBA — was not in the mood to hear about John Wall and his injury that screws the Wizards in the worst way possible.

Whitman called out Washington Post reporter Michael Lee by name for reporting that Wall is clashing with doctors who say he needs to sit. As part of his rant, Wittman claimed that Lee’s source wasn’t an ‘inside’ source, which is in a way is Wittman calling Lee out as an amateur.

Perhaps the best part of the rant is when Wittman decided he was done answering that specific question about John Wall and the team doctors.

This doesn’t rank up there with the greatest coaching rants of all-time, but rather it acts as glimpse of a man on the edge of his sanity. Wittman has been consistently criticized for not being the man for the job in Washington despite two straight winning seasons that have seen the Wizards advance to the Conference Semifinals.

But without John Wall, the Wizards are useless in the playoffs and they will be operating without Bradley Beal as well. Paul Pierce can’t carry this team, Marcin Gortat isn’t a centerpiece player and there isn’t much else the Wizards can roll with.

Losing Wall, Beal and all hope in the postseason takes a toll on a man’s sanity an Randy Wittman is living on the edge of reason right now. Regardless of what set off the rant, the fact that he’s in the ranting mood is telling as to the current mood inside of the Wizards locker room.
