UFC featherweight contender Conor McGregor says he is the best pound for pound fighter in the world.

UFC featherweight Conor McGregor is writing a new column for a newspaper in Ireland and mixed martial arts fans couldn’t be more grateful. Every time McGregor puts a microphone to his mouth beautiful things come out of it, and why would a pen in his hand be any different.

McGregor opened his column with a great and bold statement.

“I can do things that nobody has ever done before. I am different. I am pound for pound the best fighter on the planet. And I will prove it in two months’ time when I become champion of the world for the third time” McGregor wrote in Ireland’s Independent. “This story is only just beginning. And it is going to run and run.”

Keep in mind this list includes notable fighters and champions like Jose Aldo, who is currently atop the UFC’s pound for pound rankings. Aldo will defend his featherweight belt against McGregor at UFC 189 in Las Vegas in July and McGregor of course addressed Aldo, the man he has been talking about all year long.

“On July 11, Jose Aldo will crumble under the energy,” McGregor wrote. “I will taste gold once again. The doubters will find a new excuse. They will pay double next time. The fans who are with me will rejoice. They will celebrate the good life with me so clearly that they reap all the rewards with me.”

Some fans might point out that McGregor isn’t even in the UFC’s pound for pound rankings, which is 15 fighters long. If he gets a win over Aldo, you could bet that he’d crack the list.
